The Internet is here to stay! So why not be familiar and comfortable with it? The Canadian Government created the Community Access Program to give communities that might otherwise not have the chance to access the Internet an opportunity to get connected and find out how useful it can be. By initiating programs that provide instruction in Internet use, Community Access Programs are opening the door of the Internet to those who before may not have been familiar with it. CAP and other programs are part of "Connecting Canadians", a six part initiative to make Canada the most connected country in the world. A Community Access site is anywhere, (such as a school or library), that the public can access the Internet and World Wide Web. Youth interns, hired at these CAP sites, are there to help you experience the Internet and learn how to use it to your advantage. This Web site was created by a CAP youth intern to give people who use the Internet in the area of Barrhead a site that could give them access to research, education and web design links that can make their time on the World Wide Web easier. This site will also be posting coming events at the Barrhead Library as well as events organized by CAP. If you would like to contact the library or your local CAP representative for information on the program or any event at the library, the address is Barrhead Public Library 5103 53Avenue Barrhead Alberta, Canada T7N 1N9 Phone: 780-674-8519 Fax: 780-674-8520 E-mail: plibrary@phrd.ab.ca | |
